Each year our chapter participates in
some form of community service. This ranges from physically going
out and working on projects (Habitat for Humanity & Toys for Tots
distribution) to collecting donations (Toys for Tots, C.O.V.E.,
collecting & shipping 80+ boxes of goodies to our troops overseas and
more).

Kids' Food Basket strives to
ensure children in the community don't go to bed hungry. They provide
healthy, tasty, efficient, and cost-effective sack suppers to children
who are nutritionally at risk, five days a week. More than 3,000
volunteers help Kids' Food Basket achieve its mission, assembling
evening meals, creating recognition projects for donors, picking up
food, making sandwiches, performing administrative duties, packaging
trail mix, delivering evening meals "sack suppers," and much more! In
2009 alone, volunteers contributed more than 23,000 hours of service to
Kids' Food Basket - which allowed the organization to finish out the
school year feeding more nearly 2,600 kids.

Each November we collect toys for Toys For Tots. Please bring
any donations to
our November General Membership Meeting. There is an opportunity
to help with the distribution of these in December. Watch for
emails in November and December for more information.

One of our previous community service
projects was C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violet Encounters).
At our February General Membership Meeting we showed a video that
highlights the need for this effort.
As part of our “Giving Back to the
Community” commitment, the Western Michigan Chapter of CFMA collected
items to send to military personnel overseas. This was an ongoing
project lasting thru our May 2008 Membership meeting.

Our Chapter teamed up with the NAWIC Grand Rapids Chapter #
194 for the 2007 Relay For Life of Byron Center. We challenged
our members to see who could raise more money for this good cause - our
general members or our associate members.
If you have an idea or suggestion of another
community service project, please let the Promotion Committee know.
