In today’s financial climate, stress seems to be everywhere. We can try to ignore it and hope it will go away or get better, or we can try to do something about it. Most likely we will not be able to make it go away, but there are ways to deal with it to alleviate the effects stress can have on our body, mind and our life. Mark Northuis, our speaker this month, is an Associate Professor of Kinesiology at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary defines kinesiology as “the study of the principles of mechanics and anatomy in relation to human movement.” Exercise can decrease stress hormones and increase endorphins, your body's ‘feel-good’ chemicals, giving your mood a natural boost. (This is the chemistry behind a ‘runner’s high’.)
